Xotic has taken the classic overdrive sound of the AC Booster and added three levels of compression as well as internal dip switches to tailor the AC's treble and presence response.
Features
The AC-COMP features improved tonal characteristics that have been modified for tighter, yet smooth overdrive sound. With three compression modes and internal dip switches, you can choose your level of compression, tonal character and make subtle adjustments to treble and presence levels.

It took a little while to find the sweet spot on this pedal, but for me it is the first OD in my chain of effects. I play single coils, so I needed to set the internal dip switches up to keep my signal bright and clear (dip 2 'on', play with the switches, it makes a big difference). Follow the AC Comp with your favorite OD/Dist and it keeps everything chimey and gritty in a great way.
