I've had my astrotone for a few weeks now and it's definitely a "go to" pedal. It was not exactly what I was expecting,as the last fuzz pedal I purchased was green and "way huge".This pedal is NOTHING like that one,and that's a good thing. You're going to want to drive this with either a good slightly distorted amps gain channel,or with an overdrive in front of it.The astrotone has a really nice 3-D type of fuzz tone to it,meaning that is is a harmonically rich sounding pedal, that absolutely can(and should)be used with a band. The quality of the electronics can heard loud and clear. To achieve unity volume you need to turn it up a bit (2:00)and I like the fuzz at around 3:00.The tone knob after12:00 starts to thin out the sound a bit as the improved circuit starts to sound like the original Sam Ash pedal. The fuzz can go from overdrive to fuzz/distortion to quite fuzzy when cranked with a slight octave up effect-and it loves my guitar's humbuckers.Very cool indeed.

The Astro, star between fuzz pedals

Hi Mike, I've had a few fuzz box and some gave me really great sounds... sometimes. The Astro Tone actually fits much more my needs and taste and always sounds how I expect it to sound. The "breaking period" of transistors is not a myth (I admit I was really skeptical about that): my pedal seems to sound even better now than the very first day. Good job (again!)

I purchased a black Astro Tone recently to use with my trio, Nightfur. I've found that it lives up to its sales pitch; a tighter sounding silicon fuzz that will cut through. Definitely a difference from the other fuzz effects he makes. I can't really compare it to anything - its not a bright and crispy as an OCD and not as fuzzy as a Fuzz Face. Its really opens up with an articulated sound on chords, but I've noticed a sort of "muted" effect on the fuzz when playing lower notes during solos - this may be the product of the transistor break in period. I am very happy with this pedal and its great to have something unique AND usable in my rig.

I seriously love this fuzz. Very nice sounding od sounds with the fuzz turned down. When you turn it up all the way it starts spitting and sputtering a la St. Vincent. I'm playing a Tele through a Fargen Dual Classic. I'm using this for Blues and Indie Rock. Loving it.
