Description

Analog Man presents the Boss MT2/Pro - The MT2/pro mod takes all the fakeness away, all that cocked-wah super-saturated, harsh, big hair distortion. It leaves plenty of distortion available but you can hear the guitar's actual sound after the mod.
Mike Hermans demonstrates the MT-2/Pro and our DS-1 and GE7 mods.
That Pedal Show checks out Metal Zones, go to 5:00 mark.
Features
FEB 2024 : we found a few of these New Old Stock which we can mod, if you can add to the cart you can get one.

It seems in 2021 these are being made in Malaysia by robots with SMT technology, so we can not modify these new ones. If you can get the previous version made in Taiwan you can send it in for our mods, just google for our Boss mod form. Thank you!!

The MT2/pro mod takes the fakeness away, that cocked-wah super-saturated, big hair, harsh and noisy distortion. It leaves plenty of distortion available, but you can hear the guitar's actual sound after the mod. On the stock pedal, if you sweep the mid range frequency knob it sounds like you are sweeping white noise. After the mod, it sounds like you are sweeping a parametric EQ or wah pedal. The mod is very expensive to do and includes two of our rare KOT clipping diodes, and a chip change on pedals made before 2008. As on the DS1, Boss copied some parts of our mods, and are using the JRC chip we specified on their newer pedals. The mod also includes most of our silver mod parts from the tube screamer, many upgraded capacitors.

In addition to improving the note, the mod also reduces noise by 5dB with all knobs at 12:00.
I don't usually offer sample settings but this one is a little tough so here is how I like to set it for a starting point: Level 10:00, Low 3:00, high 1:30, mid freq 10:00, middle 1:30, Dist up high.

Mod your pedal

See analogman.com for the mod form to send in your Boss pedal to mod, if you don't want to buy a new one.

5 of 5 WOW! April 14, 2021

I sought out a used pedal to send in for the Pro mod. The difference is ridiculous. It's not the same pedal anymore. I have a loaded AM Maxon SD-9, an AM DS1 Pro/Midrange, Friedman BE-OD and Smallbox pedals... This is my favorite distortion pedal now.

5 of 5 An extremely versatile classic just got better... June 15, 2011
Reviewer: Richie from Boston, MA
This pedal is a LOT of bang for your buck. The built in EQ is GREAT, couple that with with the wide range distortion circuit and you get an extremely VERSATILE pedal. Great for vintage rock/classic rock/80's metal or modern aggressive tones, the sustain is absolutely endless. The Analogman MT2/Pro retains all the good qualities of this pedal while improving the mid range control of the EQ and delivering more overall clarity. Sounds great with almost any guitar but it's picky with amps, you might not want to run this thing into a Fender Champ. The MT2/Pro sounds best through amps that have a decent amount of headroom. For those of you looking to turn it up a notch, it might be time to put down the lap steel and pick up the Analogman Boss MT2/Pro.
