5 of 5 the TS to rule them all April 8, 2024

I purchased the Mason OD-9 with silver mods and the bad bob boost and without hesitation I can say this is the best sounding tube screamer I have ever had.

Obviously this nails the classic mid-forward drive that everyone has come to love about this circuit, but what really astonished me was the note to note clarity and articulation that came from the analog.man mods.  Even though you can push this circuit and get pretty nasty with it, it never sounds muddy or messy.  Notes are crisp and sparkly and really accentuate the dynamics of the amps and the guitar your playing!

The bad bob booster is the cherry on top.  It really is an excellent mostly clean (until you really crank it) boost and sounds good by itself or stacked with the OD-9.  Stacked with the OD-9 it really helps to add back some of the low end that can get lost when pushing a signal with a drive pedal.  They are perfect for each other and well worth the extra cost!

5 of 5 AnalogMan Maxon OD9 TV Mod + Bad Bob September 11, 2022
Reviewer: JP from Colorado
Holy cow what a pedal!  I've been thru several/many/lots of OD pedals.  This is the best by far.  TV Mod keeps nice mids.  Can go from mild to wild on your amp.  The Bad Bob Boost gives it so much more, and frees up space on your board!  Use the Bad Bob alone to get your amp to naturally wake up, OR use it with the OD9 together to melt faces!  It has quickly become the cornerstone of my main board--now I need a second one for my small board.  I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!  PRO TIP: If your neighbors like listening to AC/DC, You definitely want the Bad Bob Boost!!

My primary amp for the past 15 years has been a small cab Matchless Spitfire which I run with a Victoria Reverberato and a Strat. I’ve loved the clean edge of break up tone, but have been though a dozen+ drive pedals (including several tube screamer variants) and never was happy with the tone. I’m kicking myself for not ordering this pedal sooner! It works seamlessly with the amplifier adding gain, taming some of the at times piercing treble from the Matchless, while still allowing the “strat” tone to shine. Really pleased with the purchase.

5 of 5 OD 9 with 808/Silver Mod April 17, 2016

I just received my new Maxon OD9 Silver Mod. All I can really say is....... Wow! I love it! I have owned many expensive OD's , didn't love any of them. KTR, Timmy, Red Dirt, TS9, etc.... Finally an OD that makes me want to play for hours. I play through a Supro Thunderbolt RI 15", combined with my Am Strat the pedal sings. Clean yet powerful and full of sustain. Great job guys! Tom

Bought November 2008, I never tried it before, I never heard it before. My choice for buying this pedal was purely based on what I read about it and my need for an overdrive pedal. And boy, the juice in this pedal is just what I needed!

It sounds so clean like no effect is in use, the high tones sparkle like a crystal and the lower tones are rolling around dirty. The hardfunk I am able to produce with this baby hits everyone right in the face! It's the perfect balance between my clean Jazzmaster and the Fuzz Factory, and I'm sure this pedal will travel with me for a very long time.

5 of 5 OD9/Bob a great combo July 10, 2012
Reviewer: Adam Smith from Burien, WA United States
Bad news first:  I had my pedalboard stolen a few years back.  Before that I had recently made it to the end of the wait list for the KoT and LOVED it.  After the board was stolen I got back on the wait list and Mike suggested the OD9/Bob combo while I waited.  I said "sure" (I mean, who wouldn't take his advice??) and he was right, it's great.  Very versatile.  Now, the reason I wrote this.  I got my KoT and use it as a 'leave on' for the yellow side and then add in the red for leads.  But then, I tried yellow and red for really heavy sounds and then add this thing after it in the chain for leads and it's ricidulous.  It adds sustain and drive with the main pedal on, and then you can experiment with the Bob or even use both.  You can make a clean amp sound like it's ready to explode with all four of those circuits going at once.  Good stuff!

5 of 5 The Best Tone Ever! w/Silvermod October 11, 2011
Reviewer: Gary Wiryawan from Seattle, WA United States
I used this pedal mostly on clean channel of my amp and what I get is a superb overdriven sound with enough dirt and sustain to sing with a humbucker and enough sparkle and mid to strum with a single coil.

This pedal can be combined with other overdrive/boost pedal to achieve a very pleasant creamy fat huge distortion with not too much dirt and not too much saturation.

Combined with silvermod, i got a very transparent sounding overdrive, it does not hide the true tone of my guitar.

Extremely love it and I would buy it again if it break. I recommend people to buy this thing especially with the silvermod.

Love this pedal. The "Silver" mod (JRC chip) really makes this pedal incredible. My favorite sound with this guy is to play on a neck SC. The tone of the pickup itself pierces right through!

5 of 5 Maxon OD-9/808/Silver Mod. Pedal January 18, 2008
Reviewer: TravisDunn from Altoona,PAUnited States
I found it scary to move from my favorite TS-9/808/silver mod to this pedal, but am so glad that I did.  The tone is just as good if not better, the mids are clean and tight. If you are considering getting a TS-9 mod, and feel attached to Ibanez pedals and feel that there is a difference between the OD-9 and a TS-9, you were just like me! But getting this pedal was motivating, as I played it the first day for 5 hours straight.  It's the key to my tone onstage, and my KOT V.4 is not on my board yet because I'm not ready to part with this pedal, that's how much it means to me! Great overdrive pedal honestly, nice rich harmonics come out when you are fully engaging this puppy! Just buy it, you won't be sorry!
