I've had my astrotone for a few weeks now and it's definitely a "go to" pedal. It was not exactly what I was expecting,as the last fuzz pedal I purchased was green and "way huge".This pedal is NOTHING like that one,and that's a good thing. You're going to want to drive this with either a good slightly distorted amps gain channel,or with an overdrive in front of it.The astrotone has a really nice 3-D type of fuzz tone to it,meaning that is is a harmonically rich sounding pedal, that absolutely can(and should)be used with a band. The quality of the electronics can heard loud and clear. To achieve unity volume you need to turn it up a bit (2:00)and I like the fuzz at around 3:00.The tone knob after12:00 starts to thin out the sound a bit as the improved circuit starts to sound like the original Sam Ash pedal. The fuzz can go from overdrive to fuzz/distortion to quite fuzzy when cranked with a slight octave up effect-and it loves my guitar's humbuckers.Very cool indeed.
